The appealing riverside town of Kompot is just 5 kilometers from the sea and services the nearby and popular seaside resort of Kep. Once a fashionable haunt of the French elite, it was known as La Perle de la Cote d 'Agathe and has stunning offshore islands and a beautiful bay. |

Romantic ruins of the luxurious mansions, destroyed by the Khmer Rouge, can be seen all along the coast. King Sihanouk owned one of the majestic small islands in close proximity to the mainland and would often use it for private entertaining. This region is famous for its production of a variety of fruits and reputedly has the best seafood in the country. |
