CYCLING TRIPS
Day 1: Phnom Penh
Arrival in Phnom Penh. Free day to explore Phnom Penh by bike. The Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, National Museum of Khmer Arts, the Art Deco Central Market and Wat Phnom, the hill from which the city takes it name are all worthy of a look. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
Day 2: Phnom Penh-Kompong Thom (130km)
Depart the capital after breakfast by bus for the 40km journey to Skun, cycling the last 15 or 20km. Arrive in Skun for an early lunch break and then continue the 89km to Kompong Thom by bike. Overnight in Kompong Thom.
Day 3: Kompong Thom-Stoung (50km)
A morning trip to visit the 7th century Sambor Prei Kuk temple complex, 35km to the north. These temples were built between 615-650 AD and pre-date Angkor Wat by around 500 years. In the afternoon continue cycling and busing to Stoung, arriving in the late afternoon. Camp overnight in the grounds of the District Office.
Day 4: Stoung-Siem Reap (95km)
Leave Stoung after breakfast for Siem Reap, the gateway to the incredible Angkor temple sites. The first part of this journey will be by bus due to poor condition of roads and then continue by bike to Angkor Wat to the watch the spectacular sunset over this most impressive temple. (BLD)
Day 5: Siem Reap
Return to Angkor the following morning for sunrise before continuing to Angkor Thom, the South Gate, the Bayon, Baphoun, the Terrace of the Elephants, the Terrace of the Leper King and Phimean Akas. After lunch cycle to Srah Srang, Banteay Kdei, Ta Prohm, Ta Keo and finish with a sunset view from Phnom Bakheng. Overnight in Siem Reap. (BLD)
Day 6: Depart Siem Reap
The morning is free to prepare for your onward flight. (B)
NOTE:
The biking programs featured here are all accompanied by a support vehicle with a local guide. A cycling guide can also be arranged if required. How much time is actually spent cycling or travelling in the support vehicle is entirely up to the individual on these tours.
Cycling tours are quoted for a minimum of 5 participants. Prices on request for less participants. It is recommended to bring your own bicycle. Rental bicycles are available at extra cost.
